I’ve had the Insanity Workout Program for a couple of months now. I’ve been meaning to start the program but procrastination is my best friend so…ya know. Fast forward to Wednesday morning. After starting the day with a major sleep deficit at my big sister’s house (which I didn’t mind because Eclipse >Sleep like Jacob > Edward) I decided to step on her scale and weigh myself. ‘Regardless of what the number says, I’m gonna start the workout tomorrow.’ I told myself, knowing I’d probably procrastinate some more. That number stopped me in my tracks: 187.2 After my last epic breakup when I almost tipped 2 bills, I promised myself I’d never hit 190 ever again. While technically the promise is still being kept, I am completely unsatisfied with that number. So now I’m on a mission to lose 25 pounds before I return from Jacksonville (August 28th). I figured today was no better day to start the Insanity program to achieve this goal. losing 25 pounds in 60 days is more than feasible right?
Now check the motives: this isn’t to look slimmer and be a smaller size to look more attractive (although those are pleasant side effects). I’m super attractive as it is (I mean, just look at my picture!), but this definitely more a health concern than an image concern. I have severe asthma and my weight plays a large (no pun intended) role in that. While going to my chiropractor to get adjusted will definitely help with the asthma, I have to do my part. My old doctor said I needed to be around 130 to be healthy, but I will be completely okay with 140 or 145 by the end of the year. losing 47 pounds in 6 months is more than feasible if I stick to it.
So with that being said, I started the Insanity workout at 7:50 this morning. Oh, if I only knew what I was getting into.
Day 1 is the Fitness Test, where you do a variety of exercises to serve as a starting point for the program. You complete the fitness test every 2 weeks to benchmark your progress during the program. The good news for me is, I should have great progress during the next 60 days because this test was BRUTAL. You have to do as many exercises as you can in a minute, followed by a minute of rest. I started off good with the first couple of exercises, but as the test went on, I learned that stamina really doesn’t like me, but we’re gonna become friends during this program. Near the end of the fit test I literally wanted to throw up. The water I was chugging did not want to stay down, and I see that I’m gonna have to invest in the Gatorade series drinks if I want to keep it all together. I’m going to document this journey every day of the workout just as another means of charting my progress.
And for the record, while this Shaun dude is a great fitness instructor, I wish they would overdub his voice because it is GRATING.
15 minutes after the fitness test, I was still sweating profusely which is a good sign. This program is gonna push me to my limits, and I will learn a lot about myself, and I’m ready to take on the challenge. This program lived up to it’s name just on day 1; I can’t imagine what the next 59 days will be like.
