As much as I am not a fan of history, I’ve learned to become a great fan of my personal history. I have a habit of journaling my life at various points. It used to be written, and after I left my complete journal in Florida and my dad & stepmom read it, that was promptly cut short. I’ve had several online journals, all of which I’m trying to find and archive into one file. Looking back over the past years of my life has been very refreshing and almost cathartic in a way. Here’s a fun flashback where I got to meet Listener and watch him perform during his first Tour of Homes. Check out the video below…it’s great. I love that he’s created and honed his own genre…talk music.
So the Listener show was last night and it was awesome. I went to C4′s dorm a little after 6 and we waited for Listener to show up. C4 also grabbed the new Mars Ill joint and I’m very jealous. Next thing I know, I look up and there’s Listener just outta nowhere.
L: How are you! I’m Dan.
Me: *small smile, slight nod* Alexis.
and that is how I first met Listener. Completely boring. Then the 3 of us piled into C4′s Grand Am, picked up some people and headed to Fazoli’s. Listener talked about being a vegetarian, this weird waitress kept walking by forcing breadsticks and later almost a jacket on us and it was good times. Me and Sarah were not eating (she had a coffee), but she had to eat a breadstick for the team and then Listener ended up giving me some of his pizza. I should’ve kept it and sold it on eBay… coulda got a great $10 for it lol
Then we went to the Ice House Cafe where the show was going to be. My arms and hands are hurting right now, otherwise I would go into excruciating detail into how it was. C4 did a set, and aside from the technical mishaps, it was awesome. And Listener then did his set and it was just a tad bit more awesome. I was a great fan of the Q&A session. Some great questions and some not great times trying to enjoy silence. But awkard silences were great. All in all, it was a fantastic show and can’t wait to do it again. The only regret I have is that I didn’t charge my phone so my battery died and I couldn’t take pictures. Ah well, such is life.
